THE quest to enter WISe land is full of trials and tribulations but the journey to the destination can still be a joyful one.

In the charity musical titled “Journey to WISe land” performed by the students of Westlake International School, Dorothy, played by Debbie Toh May Qi, and her dog Toto, played by K. Herwin, saw a rainbow and wondered if there was another world on the other side of the rainbow.

Suddenly, a tornado whisked the two of them away to an imaginary world called the Land of WIS and Dorothy had to find the WISe man in order to get back to her own world.

She befriended a few characters along the way before eventually meeting the WISe man.

Throughout the journey, Dorothy sang a few familiar songs with the Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion.

Together, they overcame various challenges and discovered their own hidden potential by the end of the difficult journey.

Kids from preschool to secondary school took part in the musical and the audience consisting of parents and other school students were entertained by their performance.

A choir and orchestra comprising Westlake International School students provided the music as the characters danced and sang to Follow the Yellow Brick Road and Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

The musical was also given a modern touch at one point as a group danced to Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO.

The charity musical, which was held from March 31 to April 1, saw the students performing four shows, one in the morning and one at night each day.

The school also had a food fair where students were seen selling ornaments, accessories and food to the public.

All proceeds from the charity concert and food fair will be channelled equally to organisations such as Persatuan Anak–Anak Yatim Soleha Tg. Tualang, Persatuan Kebajikan Orang Cacat Malim Nawar and Malaysian Care.
