It is my privilege to welcome you to
Westlake International School.
We believe in nurturing powerful learners with wholesome character, in partnership with parents and the community.
As a young and vibrant school, we have the edge to create a dynamic learning environment; one where staff and students pursue excellence and fulfill our potential.
Therefore, we embrace change! For many of our students, crossing over to an international British curriculum demands the shifting of mindset, likened to metamorphosis. It is the caring, competent and committed teachers who coax our students out of their cocoons, and help them discover that learning adds colour, beauty and meaning to life. This eases the pain of change and sparks the delight of growth.
At Westlake International School, our students have signed up for the adventure of their lives - learning, growing and becoming the best that they can be.
How about you? Do visit us and find out whether this school is the right school for you!
Note From Executive Director
Mr. Hew Fen Yee
Pursuit of Excellence.
Westlake International School (WIS) starts 2020 as the school’s eighth year in operation. Despite our short history, WIS has achieved remarkable results both in the academic and sports arenas. In 2017, we saw our students entering prestigious top-tier universities such as Yale, Manchester and Melbourne. In sports, our school teams have also attained impressive wins at district and state levels.
These encouraging achievements not only reflect the hard work and determination of our students but also the dedication and investments of all WIS educators, be they teachers, boarding house parents, or administrators. Such strong foundation built will definitely augur well for current as well as future students, giving them many platforms and opportunities for them to live up to the school motto, “Pursuit of Excellence”.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and the Kampar community. For without their relentless and undivided supports, such success, especially for such a young school, will not be possible.
Our former English teacher, Mr Tiong Ngee Derk (who is currently pursuing a PhD degree at Cambridge University) did an in-depth study of WIS. His findings, published in the book “WIS Heartbeat”, sum us up as a responsive, relational and reflective school. This book will give us a head start to understand the school better and to have a glimpse of the people behind the school. I do encourage anyone who wishes to know WIS better to download an e-copy from our website.
Indeed, we look forward to an exciting year ahead. We have introduced many new initiatives and programmes to “Add Value” to the learning of WIS students. I firmly believe in the notion of “Train up a child when he is young, so that when he is old, he will not turn from it”. We aspire to ensure that our students will be challenged academically, mentally and morally so that they will become better people: competent, confident and compassionate.
I wish the school, students and parents a successful and meaningful year ahead!
